State Representative Bruce Borders Awards Veteran with Long-Awaited Medals

Mywabashvalley.com shares the honoring of Veteran Terry Haughee. Representative Borders presented Haughee with medals that were earned years ago at the surprise ceremony that the veteran’s wife set-up. Haughee earned prestigious medals such as the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Bruce Borders’ district receives $1.5 million grant

The Greene County Daily World shares that the Community Focus Fund granted $1.5 million to disperse between Bloomfield, Odon, and West Terre Haute. State Rep Bruce Borders and others were extremely grateful.

"I'm tickled pink for the residents of Bloomfield, Odon and West Terre Haute," said District 45 Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville). "These communities made it clear that these improvements were darned important to them. The state has agreed, and so do I. The lives of every family in these communities will be vastly improved as a result of these grants. For the citizens of West Terre Haute, in particular, this grant will help avoid some of the flooding that so recently devastated many of their lives."

Greene County leaders will work with Bruce Borders to repair damages

Wthitv.com reports that the flood caused destruction to Greene County’s water systems, sewer plants, roads and bridges. State Representative Bruce Borders points out that it will take a vast amount of money to repair the damages.

"We have roads that are washed out," said State Representative Bruce Borders of Jasonville, "We have railroad tracks like right here south of Worthington that are washed out, and it's going to be millions upon millions of dollars in repairs."

State Rep. Bruce Borders will sing in wedding this coming Friday

Evansville Courier and Press notifies that State Rep Bruce Borders will sing for in wedding taking place at Holiday World this Friday.

Officiating will be Bruce Borders, a state legislator from Jasonville, Ind., who’s been an Elvis impersonator for many years.

Borders will sing “(I Can't Help) Falling in Love” during the ceremony, which will take place at the top of The Voyage roller coaster’s 160-foot-high lift hill.

House Republican Property Tax tour continues

We’ve posted a couple articles on our blog about the House Republican town hall meeting tour this week. Bruce Borders, Amos Thomas and Brian Bosma held one of those Town Hall meetings on Tuesday in Terre Haute. The Tribune printed a long article.

“It is the strongest and most historic property tax relief package that has been adopted in my 22 years in the General Assembly and some have said in two generations,” Bosma said. “It was truly a historic event which will significantly benefit taxpayers in western Indiana today and also cap their property taxes in the future.”

Bosma said House Republicans sought to measure the tax relief plan, in part, by an immediate property tax cut of at least 25 percent to homeowners.

“For folks in Vigo County, that property tax cut for homesteads will be 36.2 percent. In Clay [County] it will be nearly 30 percent and Sullivan [County] will hit nearly 25 percent,” Bosma said.
