Creating Competition is Part of Wes Culver’s Energy Plan

In the article posted by eTruth.com, Republican candidate Wes Culver’s energy plan is highlighted by its main points.  A primary focus that Culver has to reduce energy costs is deregulating utilities.  By ridding Goshen of the current monopoly, utility companies will have to compete for lower costs.  Culver believes that monopolies keep companies from maximizing efficiencies.   Other points to his energy plan include:

•    Making Indiana a leader in energy technology by creating "schools of energy" with state universities;

•    Creating energy business incubators;

•    Making $5 million in state funding available as low-interest loans for start-up companies which focus on energy technology innovation;

•    Remove limits on how much energy citizens can sell back to utilities through wind generation;

•    Offer state tax credits for "net-zero energy homes;"

•    Sales tax holiday for American-made, energy efficient appliances; and

•    Bipartisan think-tank to search for best practices on energy policies.
