Amazon.com announced plans this week to hire several hundred full-time positions for the new distribution center in Whitestown, northwest of Indianapolis. The online retailer plans to open the 600,000-square-feet center in Boone County in order to meet its Midwest demands.
The announcement caught the attention of Jacque Clements, candidate running to fill Senator Jim Buck’s seat as State Representative in House District 38.
“This is a big step in the right direction, but there is still much work to be done,” said Clements. “Senator Buck worked diligently to make HD 38 a better place to live, and I want to continue what he started by bringing in more jobs to the people of this great community.” Open House events for will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds Pavilion.
